The Warglaives of Azzinoth were not created through normal forging. They were weapons born from the Burning Legion, shaped through demonic methods and infused with fel energy from the start. Unlike traditional weapons made with metal and craftsmanship, these glaives were tied to power first, form second. Their curved design, balance, and speed all exist to serve one purpose—channeling destructive energy through rapid, relentless combat.

They originally belonged to a powerful demon named Azzinoth, a doomguard commander within the Burning Legion. As their wielder, Azzinoth carried weapons that were already bound to fel magic, meaning the glaives were not just tools, but extensions of demonic power. Every strike they delivered was fueled by that energy, and over time, they became tied to the demon’s own presence and strength.
During the War of the Ancients, Illidan Stormrage confronted Azzinoth in battle. This was not a случай victory or a simple fight. Illidan, already beginning to walk a dangerous line between control and corruption, faced a demon whose power matched the weapons he carried. When Illidan defeated Azzinoth, he did not discard the weapons or treat them as trophies in the traditional sense. He claimed them with intent.
Taking the glaives was only the first step. Illidan bound their power to himself, forcing a connection between his own fel-infused body and the demonic energy within the blades. This process is what made the weapons truly his. Without that binding, the glaives would remain unstable and dangerous to wield. With it, they became synchronized with his movements, his strength, and the very nature of what he was becoming.
The glaives retained traces of Azzinoth even after his death. Their energy did not fade or reset. Instead, it remained active, which is why they are capable of manifesting that lingering power. This is seen later when Illidan uses them to summon flames that carry the essence of the demon, proving that the weapons were never emptied of what created them.
The Warglaives of Azzinoth were not crafted for Illidan, and they were not meant for him. They were taken, forced into alignment, and made part of him through direct control over their power. Their creation belongs to the Burning Legion, their history belongs to Azzinoth, and their final identity belongs to Illidan.
